BEAVERS CAN BE DOWNRIGHT INFURIATING. GROWING up on a farm with beavers nearby, I distinctly remember watching my kind neighbor, Judy, regularly get down in the mud to pry sharpened sticks out of the culvert that kept the road from flooding. She was frustrated, so I was frustrated too. Now, looking back at my grade-school self, I see the irony in the fact that I have a summer internship with a beaver restoration nonprofit, and it’s my turn to get dirty in the mud—to save beavers.
