Ilive and garden in one of the most beautiful places in the world, the Olympic Peninsula in northwestern Washington State is home to Olympic National Park and some of the most breathtaking scenery imaginable. Our home is a few miles outside the town of Sequim, a quiet retirement community, known as "the blue hole". Sequim got this nickname from airline pilots who fly over the cloudy northwest and see an area of land in the rain shadow of the Olympics. We receive about 17 inches of rain a year, not much compared to our soggy neighbors to the west, where the rainforest gets 300 inches a year!
