QPD Has Started Producing Heavy Crude from the Offshore A-Structure South Field

Qatar Petroleum Development Co. Ltd. (QPD), a joint venture between the Japanese companies Cosmo Oil Co. (75%) and Sojitz Corporation (25%), has brought the A-Structure South oil field on Block 1SE off Qatar into production, it was announced on 17 May. The development plan for the field was approved by Qatar Petroleum (QP) in 2007 and the work was carried out while production operations continued at the two existing fields on the tract, Al-Karkara and A-Structure North. Production from A-Structure South started on 27 April.
