CNPC and SPC Form a Joint Venture for the Development of the Koubayba Oilfield

China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and the state-owned Syrian Petroleum Company (SPC) have signed an agreement in Damascus for the creation of a 50:50% joint venture,Sino-Syrian Kawkab Oil Company (SSKOC),for the development of the Koubayba oilfield (referred to as Gbeibe by Xinhua News Agency) in north-eastern Syria.The two companies signed a development and production-sharing agreement (DPSA) covering this field in March 2003.
