The liquefied natural gas (LNG) export project undertaken by Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has been a great industrial and commercial success, and the shareholders in NLNG are continuing to invest in the expansion of the liquefaction plant, which currently comprises six trains and whose capacity is being stepped up to over 30 million tons/year of LNG (NLNG also produces and markets liquefied petroleum gas and condensate - AOG, 1 Feb., 2008). The success of the enterprise is due in large part to the quality of the work carried out by the international consortium composed of Technip, Snamprogetti, KBR and JGC - known by its initials TSKJ - which won the main EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contracts for the liquefaction plant located on Bonny Island. But the conditions in which the consortium obtained these contracts could raise serious problems for the companies concerned or for some of their existing or former managers.
