Repsol Signs a Contract with Qatargas for the Supply of LNG to Be Delivered to the Canaport Terminal in Canada

Qatargas and Repsol Energy Canada, a subsidiary of the Spanish company Repsol YPF, signed a sale and purchase agreement (SPA) on 9 October providing for Qatargas to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the Canaport terminal at Saint John, Canada, which is operated by Repsol. Canaport LNG is a joint venture between the Spanish company (75%) and Fort Reliance (25%). The terminal came on stream in September 2009 and has regasification capacity of 1.2 billion cubic feet/day (28 million cu m/day) of gas for supply to the markets of the northeastern United States and eastern Canada.
