SiMn profitability recovers in Asia by autumn

Prices for SiMn (65 Mn; 16 Si) have increased in Japan in September by $30/t month-on-month to $1,098/t CIF and those for HC FeMn (75 Mn) - by $18/t to $1,125/t CIF. Export prices for Indian SiMn (65 Mn; 16 Si) have risen by $30/t to $1,091/t CIF, whereas those for HC FeMn (75 Mn) - by $7/t to $1,155/t FOB India. The upturn in Asian and Middle Eastern demand in the middle of September has let Indian merchants raise offers to $1,100-1,110/t FOB. The Japanese are slow to accept the price increase, trading being minimal in the spot market ahead of the Q4 contracting.
