Bolstered by new environmental restrictions and the yuan devaluation, SiMn futures began rising again on the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange in August. As of August 13, quotes gained 10 in RMB (to?RMB 8,752/t) and 7.5 in USD (to?$1,271/t), however the tags have dropped to RMB 8,570/t by the end of the month. Tags for the alloys rose to RMB 8,800/t on average in the physical market, up almost RMB 600/t month-on-month. This allowed port traders to raise prices for Mn ore by 1-5 from the bottom in late July.
