Surplus in US Mn alloy market keeps on weighing on prices

SiMn (65 Mn, 17 Si) prices fell by $39/t to $1392/t ($0.63/lb) DDP on average in the USA in July, those for HC FeMn (75 Mn) declined by $51/t to $1387/t DDP. Seasonally slack buying and oversupply, especially in the HC FeMn segment, keep on weighing on the tags. - A rise in Mn ore quotes will allow suppliers to push up offers to the USA, but its pace remains questionable. The ore stocks continue rising in China, so global material prices will be relatively stable in September. Mn ore quotes may be moderately rising in October-November amid strong alloy consumption in China. Given delivery terms, a rise in the material prices in the global market will affect Mn alloy costs and tags in the United States in August-September, while the factor will rather contribute to the quote stabilization in October. Taking into account still high prices in the USA compared to other international markets, the factor will be mainly awareness-raising.
