UK: GKN reports ￡29m Q1 pre-tax loss

ON 7 May the engineering and drivetrain components group GKN plc issued an interim management statement covering the period since 1 January, in conjunction with its AGM. Group sales (including subsidiaries and joint ventures) in the quarter ended 31 March 2009 totalled ￡1,085m (US$1,641m), 8 down year-on-year. Currency translation and the Filton operation acquisition from BAE Systems provided a benefit of ￡389m. Excluding Filton, group sales at constant currency dropped 33.
