YPF along with its partners Pan American Energy and Wintershall will invest $38.0B over the next two decades to develop the Bandurria and Lindero Atravesado oil and natural gas fields that are part of the Vaca Muerta shale play in the country after receiving new concessions from the local provincial government in Neuquen, where the majority of the Vaca Muerta play is located. Of this $38.0B, $1.4B will be invested by 2018. Pan American will operate 63.5% of Lindero Atravesado and YPF 37.5%, and Bandurria Centra will be operated by Pan American, Bandurria Norte by Wintershall, and Bandurria Sur will be operated by YPF. According to the governor of Neuquen Jorge Sapag, "With Lindero Atravesado and Bandurrias we estimate that over the years ahead...Neuquen will double its oil production and that the gas produced by these fields could replace more than 40 shiploads of imports, which would represents $1.6B in savings for Argentina."
