Causes of stress and adverse effects on health of teachers

Educational practice gives signals about a high level of job stress in the teaching profession influencing health state, and contributing to psychological, emotional and somatic disorders and burnout syndrome (Borg, Riding, 1993; Lazarus, 1985; Mallotova, 2000).The aim of the present study was to evaluate the health condition and professional strain of teachers, and to assess the changes in selected characteristics related to the transformation processes in the society.
