A rare cause of severe sample haemolysis

Case Report:A 61 year old male with a history of prostate cancer with liver and bone metastases was admitted to the Medical Admissions unit at 2 am.He had a 5-7 day history of feeling generally unwell and had not been eating or drinking much in the past 4 days. He was complaining of nausea with numerous episodes of vomiting and had a cough, productive of white sputum but no dyspnoea for about a week. His current drug therapy was latanoprost/timolol eye drops for glaucoma and fentanyl analgesia patches.
