Effects of dietary vitamin E upon the growth of red hybrid tilapia (Oreochromis sp.) and upon lipid peroxidation and the distribution of tocopherols and tocotrienols in the tissues of this species were investigated. Feeding the tocotrienol-rich fraction of crude palm oil to red hybrid tilapia markedly increased concn. of both tocotrienols and tocopherols in various tissues (flesh, liver, adipose tissue, skin and plasma) and protected them from lipid peroxidation.
