KBR Inc. recently announced that it has been selected by Royal Dutch Shell plc to utilize its trademarked ROSE solvent deasphalting technol- ogy for use at Shell's Pernis refnery in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The ROSE unit is expected to remove heavier fractions from crude oil, allowing the refnery to upgrade a larger proportion of its oil intake into lighter, high-grade products and signifcantly enhance Pernis' refnery performance and competitiveness, according to KBR.
