Situation and outlooks for development of Ukraine's light industry is the focus of the Interview given by Yury Cherniy, head of light industry department under the Ministry of Industrial Policy of Ukraine, to the Ukrainian Market Review. In particular. Mr. Cherniy mentions that production volume in the sector over 2002 amounted to UAH 2,216.8 mn The article highlights problems of light industry, such as, competition on the internal market between domestic-made products and articles brought from abroad. Conversation with Yury Cherniy also goes over the importance of leasing schemes, under which light industry enterprises are fomed to operate because of short current assets. Special heed is given to Increase of "pure" export, which was traced in Ukraine over the last several years, and to position of Ukrainian producers on the global market. Other issues under review are innovations in legislation related to light industry, situation with export shipments of light industry products, and investments in the sector.
