Sumitomo Chemical Co. Ltd. (TYO:4005) has teamed up with California-based startup Newlight Technologies Inc. to jointly develop automotive materials using a resin produced by microorganisms. These materials will be used as carbon-negative biomaterials with negative CO2 emissions in the processes of raw material procurement, transportation and manufacturing to help meet the demand for environmental responsiveness.
