Daikin Looks to Offer Fluoropolymer Binder in Form of Binder–CNT Dispersion

Daikin Industries Ltd. (TYO:6367) is looking to promote sales of fluoropolymer binders to customers in the battery market. The company already provides a modified polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) binder for LiB cathode use, and now intends before the end of this fiscal year to launch a dispersion that combines this polymer with single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs). The production of LiB cathodes typically involves the use of a slurry that includes active material and conductive additive, and a binder that combines them together. This slurry is coated onto aluminum foil.
