Four Japanese Chemical Giants to Collaborate on Supply Chain for Clean Ammonia

Ube Industries Ltd. (TYO:4208), Sumitomo Chemical Co. Ltd. (TYO:4005), Mitsui Chemicals Inc. (TYO:4183) and Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Co. Inc. (TYO:4182) have joined forces with an eye toward securing a stable supply of clean ammonia. Seen as a trump card in the pursuit of carbon neutrality, ammonia is expected to meet with rapidly increasing demand in future for use as an energy source, a raw material for chemicals and more. So by joining together to carry out overseas investment, the companies here aim to look at a wide range of plans, such as creating an economy of scale for the procurement of clean ammonia, collaborating on building a base for receiving this ammonia and securing transport ships.
