Asahi Kasei to Produce Biomass-Derived Acrylonitrile in South Korea

Asahi Kasei Corp.(TYO:3407)is set to begin producing an eco-friendly acrylonitrile this February through wholly owned South Korean subsidiary Tongsuh Petrochemical Corp.Ltd.(TSPC).Having recently received ISCC Plus certification,TSPC will produce acrylonitrile using biomass propylene and sell it as a sustainable product via the mass balance approach.The move marks the first time that an Asian acrylonitrile manufacturer has acquired ISCC Plus certification,which requires the application of the mass balance approach.
