Toray Develops 100% Plant-Derived Nylon Fiber

Toray Industries Inc. (TYO:3402) has launched a nylon 510 fiber made entirely from plant- derived polymers. Ecodear 510 is the world’s first nylon 510 fiber. Toray plans to market textiles made with its newly developed nylon principally for use in sportswear and outdoor clothing. And in addition to fiber grades designed for such apparel, the company intends to offer items suited to a wide range of other applications, from lace trim for innerwear to general materials.
