摘要

Gas chromatography(GC)is a powerful technique for the analysis of target compounds in complex matrices like food.However,the only identification comes from retention time(RT).The RT alone is insufficient to unambiguously identify and quantitate when co-eluting compounds are present.The main way around this problem is to selectively observe the target compound over the matrix or perform sample clean-up to remove the matrix interferants.This article discusses the comparative advantages and disadvantages of selective detection versus mass spectrometry and sample clean up.
