Plant viruses: exploiting agricultural and natural ecosystems.

This Special Issue contains fifteen papers that are expanded versions of presentations made at an International Conference held at Cornell University, New York, 20-24 June 2010. The theme of the conference was "Plant Viruses: Exploiting Agricultural and Natural Ecosystems". It was arranged jointly by the Plant Virus Epidemiology Committee of The International Society of Plant Pathology (ISPP) and members of the Plant Virus Ecology Network (PVEN). The detailed arrangements were handled by a local committee convened by Professor Stewart Gray. The ISPP Committee was established in 1980 with the aim of fostering the exchange of information and research on epidemiology at a time when such studies were in danger of being neglected with the increased attention being given to molecular biology. The main activity has been to arrange a series of conferences which began at Oxford in the United Kingdom in 1981.
