AHRQ Series on Improving Translation of Evidence: Progress and Promise in Supporting Learning Health Systems

Less than half—perhaps less than a fifth—of US health care is based on evidence.Although this is cause for concern, it represents extraordinary growth from 50 or 100 years ago. We have made progress in the movement of research into practice and of evidence into practice, but we remain far from where we want to be. The articles in the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) Evidence-based Practice Center (EPC) series on improving translation of evidence published in the Journal over the last six months represent a small step toward accelerating the adoption of evidence in an environment where both researchers and health systems strive to do better.
