Two frms reportedly join race for huta Czestochowa

Two more players are reportedly again in the race for Polish plate producer ISD Huta Czestoсhowa, although, as it was reported last week, a frm bid of the Polish fnancing institution was accepted by ISD and submitted to court for evaluation under the liquidation procedure.Last week, Sunningwell International Polska, a fnancial group backed by Chinese banks, offered PLN 240 million (EUR 55 million) for the currently idled ISD Huta Czestoсhowa, Metal Expert reported. The frm plans to restart operations at the mill within a month, after rebuilding scrap stocks and restarting the EAF, Marek Frydrych, managing director at Sunningwell told the local media. However, two steel companies have joined the race for the troubled asset. Polish EAF-based steelmaker and scrap trader Cognor and UK-based Liberty Steel have submitted improved bids for the plate mill, local sources report.
