Latin america’s steel production, demand keep falling

The steel industry in Latin America keeps weakening driven by the fall in consumption, especially in rolled products, and the economic growth slowdown, combined with the political uncertainty.over January-June 2019, total steel products consumption in Latin America slipped by 3% to 33.67 million t year-on-year, with a 12% fall recorded in June, according to Latin American Steel Association (Alacero). Mexico and Argentina were the ones that decreased their June steel consumption, by 5.8% and 14.7%, respectively, year-on-year.
