Scrap prices down signifcantly in sales to Turkey

Turkish mills resumed ferrous scrap bookings as they achieved lower prices. Suppliers from the USA and UK provided signifcant discounts.An Izmir-based mill purchased 17,500 t of HMS 1&2 (90:10) at $261/t CFR, 6,000 t of shredded scrap at $263/t CFR and 6,500 t of P&S at $268/t CFR from the USA. The cargo is due to be shipped in September, Metal Expert learnt. “The world economy is slowing, causing slow demand for fnished steel, this is driving scrap prices down,” an exporter commented.
