Development Strategy and Layout of Chinese Aluminum Industry

The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), Chinese industrial policy maker and watchdog, has recently mapped out the development strategy for Chinese aluminum industry, a. Alumina. China started building its alumina refinery in 1950s and it had six alumina refineries in 1990s, namely, Shandong Aluminum Plant, Zhengzhou Aluminum Plant, Guizhou Aluminum Plant, Shanxi Aluminum Plant, Zhongzhou Aluminum Pant and Pingguo Aluminum Plant(now they are the brnches of Chalco), in Kenan, Shandong, Shanxi, Guizhou province and Guangxi region that are rich in bauxite, coal, water and electric power resources. In recenty ears, the government has supported the six refineries to technology and facility and expand production capacity. Moreover, construction of the Guang xi Huayin and Shanxi Jinbei the important of the development of Chinese aluminum industry. The eight alumina refineries are regarded as the foundation of Chinese industry.
