Chalco and CNMC to build alumina refinery at Dac Nong, Vietnam

Aluminum Corporation of China Limited(Chalco) and China Nonferrous Metal Mining & Construction Co. Group LTD (CNMC) was in talks with Vietnam government to invest USD1.5 billion to build a greenfield alumina refinery at Dae Nong, sources close to the situation said. It is expected that the three sides will sign an agreement on the alumina project in July 2005. The alumina project includes construction of bauxite mine and alumina refinery. With a capacity of 1.9 million tpy, the project is scheduled to corae on stream by the end of 2006.
