Spanish, French steel mills may be next impacted by coronavirus

Spanish and French steel industries are likely to be next after Italy to feel the consequences of the coronavirus outbreak as nationwide lockdowns are implemented in the countries from Saturday, March 14. The aftermath of those radical measures are yet to be seen for the steel community. The Spanish and French governments declared a state of emergency on Saturday canceling all recreational activities and closing non-essential at the moment shops for two weeks to prevent the spread of the virus. But the measures are not restricting any industrial activities or flow of goods across the country so they have not yet had any drastic impact on the local steel segment, Metal Expert understands.
