Labour is abundant in India and unskilled labour is relatively easy to find. There is a good pool of well-educated and competent staff, including technicians and engineers. However, prior to the onset of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic in early 2020, economic growth and increasing competition among companies meant that labour shortages were cropping up in both manufacturing and service industries, despite a rising unemployment rate. Turnover rates are increasing as well, particularly in service industries and in urban areas.
