Q3 coking coal prices negotiated in Canada

Talks on Q3 coking coal supply are still in progress in Canada. Suppliers have so far managed to hold nominal prices at $130-135/t FOB, but their positions are weak. Canadian coal giant Teck Resources and South Korea’s POSCO have come to an agreement on the premium coking coal price for July-September, setting it at $143/t FOB, $2/t below the level established by BHP Billiton. Prices for lower-quality material have not been tabled so far, talks with Japan’s Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal still going on.
