Turkey boosts scrap imports

The Turkish scrap market has rebounded before Ramadan. Turkish mills have increased scrap imports to replenish stocks. There are deals mainly for August shipment, some for September. Demand has been driven by positive changes in billet and rebar segments. In the first week of July, a US scrap trader has sold 3 batches: two batches containing 30,000 t of HMS 1&2 (80:20) and 15,000 t of shredded scrap to Iskenderun at respectively $363/t CFR and $368/t CFR and a mixed batch of HMS 1&2 (80:20), shredded scrap and P&S to Marmara at respectively $364.5/t CFR, $369.5/t CFR and $374.5/t CFR.
