Scrap suppliers refuse to give Turkish companies discounts

Turkish companies are cautious about steel scrap purchases as exporters are currently trying to fix prices set at the end of last week in contracts. No discounts will be given amid limited supply. Nominal prices for US material stay at the last-week level. HMS 1&2 (80:20) is available at $346/t CFR Turkey, shredded scrap – at $351/t CFR and P&S material – at $356/t CFR. Quotations are supported by quite strong demand in the US domestic market that lets some scrap collectors redirect volumes to local steelmakers.
