摘要

Highly active ruthenium nanoparticles (Ru NPs) supported on nano magnesium oxide were synthesized to investigate the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in the presence of a weak electrolyte (CH_3 COOH). The exchange current density for hydrogen evolution is -10 mA·cm~(-2) at an overpotential of 84 mV. Furthermore, Ru NPs in 0.5 M CH_3 COOH yield a Tafel slope of 21 mV/dec, in contrast with the 15 mV/dec observed for Pt catalysts.
