摘要

This paper discusses the kinetics of synthesis of tri phenyl phosphate (TPP), i.e., an esterification reaction between phenol and phosphorous trichloride. The kinetics of the reaction have been found to proceed as a first-order reaction and a model has been developed to study the effect of TPP reaction temperature, mole ratio of reactants on yield of TPP. The role of nitrogen sparging on the yield of TPP has been studied. Nitrogen sparging has been found to help in removal of liberated HQ vapors, thereby shifting the equilibrium and enhancing the rate of reaction.
