UK RETAILERS face shortages of corned beef on their shelves in coming months as industrial disputes have crippled supply lines from the world's leading supplier, Brazil. Prices for new business have risen yet further in the last few weeks and are now up to 75% higher than eight months ago. "There is total unrest in Brazil with various government departments taking strike action, which has virtually brought ports and airports to a standstill," explained the UK's leading corned beef importer.
