Drummond calls time on strike action

Colombia’s second-largest producer Drummond has told the unions they must end a strike by next Tuesday or it will revoke the bonus terms of its latest pay offer. Drummond expects strikers to accept an existing pay offer ahead of forced arbitration, as some workers, who have not been paid since the strike began on 23 July, are keen to return to work. The company says it will withdraw its offer of a bonus of 8.5mn pesos ($4,532) unless workers sign a three-year collective labour agreement and put an end to the strike by 20 August.
