Strong outlook on US pecan harvest following Texan view

THE prospects for the forthcoming 2007/08 US pecan crop are seen as even stronger than anticipated earlier this year, following the release of estimates from the Texas Pecan Growers Association. The association has two committees that estimate the crop and provide their own individual assessments. For 2007, one of these groups has pegged the crop at 314 million in-shell Ibs while the other believes the crop will come in slightly higher than this at 333.1 million in-shell Ibs.
