Argentine peanut price rises on back of supply shortage

ARGENTINE peanut prices have been subjected to sharp increases over the last few weeks as exporters hike their quotes in response to the overall tightness of supplies which prevails across the industry. In the week ending 27 July, European traders quoted Argentine 40-50 grades at US1 200 dollar per tonne cif northwest European ports compared with US1 150 dollar/tonne cif a week earlier. Similar sharp price rises were indicated in other Argentine grades. In the meantime, US, Chinese and Indian peanutshave been largely unquoted.
