Low US forecast opens door to Brazilian FCOJ price hike

THE USDA has predicted a very steep fall in the 2009-10 Florida orange production. The all-orange forecast released by the USDA's Agricultural Statistics Board is 136.0 million boxes, representing a fall of 16% from the 162.4 million boxes last season, and 20% below the 170.2 million boxes produced in 2007/08. It now seems very likely that Brazil will succeed in pushing through its hoped-for price rises for FCOJ.
