World crisis puts temporary brake on organic juice sales

THE global financial crisis is having the effect of dampening demand for organic products, including fruit juices, according to a recent report by a major European supplier of organic juices. J0rgen St01sgard, of Danish trading company Berrifine A/S,told delegates at the recent FOOD-NEWS World Juice 2009 conference that the global organic products industry had tripled its sales value in eight years, with Organic Monitor estimating sales of US 46 billion dollar in 2007, up from around US15 billion dollar in 1999. Sales for 2008 are projected to have exceeded US 50 billion dollar.
