US frozen fruit market still suffering from low demand

US trade in frozen fruit continues to excite little interest in what remains a lacklustre market. Against a backdrop of plentiful supplies from this year's crops and ample carryover from the 2008 season, buyers still have no incentive to buy sizeablevolumes of either domestic fruit, or new season supplies from the southern hemisphere. Certainly, the downturn in the American economy has prompted a change in domestic buying and manufacturing habits in 2009. Some sources opine that many US frozen fruit items have in fact been priced above their real value for the last two years and therefore the sluggish uptake currently taking place, is more akin to a market correction, putting downward pressure on prices.
