Price crash in passion fruit juice market after recent record high

PASSION fruit juice prices have crashed by over USdollars 5 000 per tonne from their peak, and further price slides are regarded as inevitable. Concentrate (50 brix) prices recently hit an all-time record of USdollars 15 000/tonne fob, a level regarded by all and sundry as utterly unrealistic, but which was apparently paid by some purchasers who were locked into supply contracts with bottlers and who had no option but to pay. In August, contract prices dropped steeply to below USdollars 10 000/tonne, then dipped to USdollars 9 000/tonne last week, and now are well below that level.
