EU could allow ASEAN tuna duty free access under FTA

CANNED tuna could be included in the forthcoming EU-ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) free trade agreement (FTA), possibly opening the door for duty free exports from Asia to Europe. Gabriel Munuera-Vinals, the commercial counsellor for the European Commission's delegation to the Philippines, said the EU is open to negotiations for the possi-bility of lowering tariffs or even granting duty-free access to tuna producers in the region.
