Chilean canned fish exports volumes up but value down

CHILEAN exports of canned fishery products continued to expand m the first six months of 2009 and reached 26 320 tonnes in volume, up by 2.2% on the same period last year. Despite the encouraging increase in the quantity of exports, revenues from foreign sales of Chilean canned fishery products were down by 1.7% and reached USdollars 85.4 million. This represents a USdollars 1.5 mil-lion drop in export revenues compared with first-half 2008.
