Macadamia industry wants to raise product awareness

MARKETING will be at the forefront of the macadamia industry's concerns in the coming seasons, as igures show an alarm-ing lack of awareness of the product, especially in the UK and other parts of the EU. This has resulted in deteriorating demand relative to other tree nuts. Strategies to alleviate this problem were at the core of many key presentations at this week's International Macadamia Symposium, held in Kruger Park, South Africa, all of which emphasised that the only way to overcome the current problems the industry faces is by working together rather than as individual producers.
