Global price trend reversal expected in August

Scrap export prices will mostly depend on conditions in the global marketfor finished steel and semis. Stable prices for finished products andsquare billet in June will let scrap suppliers hold their ground. Givenstrong demand and the fact that scrap consumption remains more profitablethan re-rolling of foreign billet, suppliers may implement a pricerise. Metal Expert forecasts a downtrend in the finished steel segmentin August-September. In this view, Turkish mills will have to press forlower raw material prices in the import market.
