Discounts from US scrap exporters have set tone in the global market for raw material. As a result, other suppliers willing to sell their material have to follow suit. The current decline in scrap prices will allow Turkish steelmakers to restore profitability of finished steel sales at least to a breakeven point. If the longs market environment deteriorates, importers will continue to pressure raw material markets.
