International peanut industry sources have cast doubts over the USDA's recent forecast for planted area for the 2014 crop, suggesting that the USDA view is on the high side.In its prospective peanut plantings report on March 31, the USDA projected a 29% year-on-year increase in total area to 1.38 million acres.However, industry experts attending this week's International Peanut Forum in Rome said they expected the US planted area to end up at less than the USDA's estimate, although still ahead of 2013 plantings.
